About the Position

The Municipal Energy Office (MEO), housed within the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Sustainability, is seeking one student to support electric vehicle planning, energy procurement, and energy codes and policy research. The student will be working with MEO’s Assistant City Energy Manager and other members of the Municipal Energy Office.

MEO is seeking an enthusiastic individual to support these programs, the City’s carbon neutrality goal, and the goals outlined in the Municipal Energy Master Plan which aims to reduce GHG emissions in City buildings by 50% by 2030. The intern may also be required to perform research and write white papers related to these programs. Other projects will be assigned as needed.

The Intern will be responsible for providing research on how energy codes and building performance standards are implemented in PA.  Specifically, the process of how codes are implemented in the Review and Advisory Committee (RAC) and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and then moved through legislation. The Intern will also help analyze the proposed new codes in the legislature and how it could impact the City.
