Deputy Director

Oscar Serpell oversees all student programming, alumni engagement, faculty and student grants, and visiting scholars. He is also a researcher, writer, and policy analyst working on research initiatives with students and Center partners. Previously, Serpell was Associate Director of Academic Programming and Student Engagement. In this role, he dramatically expanded the Kleinman Center’s student programming to include new courses, undergraduate fellows programming, and student writing opportunities.

Serpell has a master’s degree in environmental studies and a B.A. in environmental management, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
