Jonathan Silver

Board Member

Jonathan Silver is one of America’s leading clean economy investors and advisors. He is Chair of the Global Sustainability Platform at Apollo Global Management (NYSE: APO), a global asset manager with over $840 billion under management. In this role, he helps shape Apollo’s investments across sustainability-related funds, with the firm targeting up to $100 billion in climate and transition investments by 2030.

Previously, Silver was a Senior Advisor at Guggenheim Partners, providing investment banking services to major cleantech and climate-tech companies. He also served as Managing Partner of Tax Equity Advisors, advising Fortune 500 firms on solar investments.

Silver serves on the board of National Grid (NYSE: NGG), where he sits on the Finance, Governance, and Remuneration Committees, and has served on boards in hydrogen, water, and sustainable packaging sectors.

During the Obama Administration, he led the U.S. government’s $40 billion clean energy and $20 billion advanced automotive technology funds—the world’s largest dedicated clean energy funds at the time. His team financed landmark projects, including Tesla and the Vogtle nuclear facility. Silver has served as a senior official in three U.S. Cabinets: Energy, Commerce and Interior and as an advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury. He is the former COO of Tiger Management, a large hedge fund, and began his career at McKinsey and Company. 

Silver is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, serves on the board of Resources for the Future, and previously chaired American Forests board. A Fulbright and Rotary Fellow, he is a graduate of Harvard University.
