2018 Carnot Prize in India
Event Summary
The Kleinman Center traveled to India to honor Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Coal for the Government of India, with the 2018 Carnot Prize. The event included a panel discussion with 2016 Carnot Prize winner and executive director of the Internation Energy Agency, Fatih Birol.
Minster Goyal was at Penn in October 2018, but due to unforeseen circumstances, he had to return to India and was unable to attend the Carnot Prize ceremony. We proceeded with the event, which included remarks from Frederick Steiner, dean and Paley Professor at PennDesign, William W. Burke-White, Richard Perry Professor and inaugural director of Perry World House, and a lecture from Aaswath Raman, assistant professor of electrical and systems engineering. We were thrilled to be able to travel to India to honor Minister Goyal with the Carnot Prize.
Piyush Goyal
