Resurfacing the State? Media Portrayals and Public Perceptions of Federal Energy-Industry Investments

Clean Energy

The project investigates how federal investments in clean-energy projects, funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, affect public perceptions and local community responses, particularly through media portrayal. It aims to assess how these projects influence community views on the energy transition and potential shifts in energy politics, using qualitative case studies and a large-sample media analysis. Methodologically, the study will involve interviews, focus groups, and media content analysis in selected communities hosting clean-energy projects.
