Field Experiments to Measure the Impact of Solar Lights at the Bottom of the Pyramid
Some African governments (e.g., Rwanda) are distributing high-end solar home systems freely to the poor; it is not clear whether those systems are cost-effective in terms of producing the desired impact and whether the target impact can be achieved by cheaper kits. This project aims to quantify the relationships between the quality of a lighting system, the resultant usage of that system, and the rate at which it generates impact.
