Event Summary

From a just transition to climate finance, this year’s hot topics from the UN climate COP30 are ongoing areas of study for many researchers—some who recently returned from Belém. Get data and insights from top scholars with deep expertise in energy and climate topics—including climate finance, extreme heat, China’s energy transition, adaptation and monitoring, and loss and damage.

Network, develop new stories, or refine existing ones while enjoying breakfast, conversation, and a view of the Capitol from our Penn Washington office. This event is co-hosted by the University of Pennsylvania’s Kleinman Center for Energy Policy, Perry World House, and Penn Washington.

William Burke-White

Professor of Law, Carey Law School

William Burke-White is Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Burke-White, an international lawyer and political scientist, is a leading expert on U.S. foreign policy, multilateral institutions, and international law.

Allison Lassiter

Assistant Professor, City and Regional Planning

Allison Lassiter is an assistant professor of city and regional planning at the Weitzman School of Design. Her work examines opportunities to use landscape infrastructure and emerging technologies to build resilience and increase adaptive capacity.

Sanya Carley

Mark Alan Hughes Faculty Director

Sanya Carley is the Faculty Director of the Kleinman Center. She is also Vice Provost for Climate Science, Policy, and Action at Penn and Presidential Distinguished Professor of Energy Policy and City Planning at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design.

Scott Moore

Director of China Programs and Strategic Initiatives

Scott Moore is a faculty fellow at the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy and the Director of China Programs and Strategic Initiatives. He is also a practice professor of political science.

Michael Weisberg

Deputy Director, Perry World House

Michael Weisberg is deputy director of Perry World House, as well as Bess W. Heyman President’s Professor and Chair of Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania.
