Event Summary

In a web-based workshop, Senior Fellows Anna Mikulska and Benjamin Schmitt will explore energy security in Europe today and into the future.

The workshop will be based on Chatham House rules and is designed to provide an opportunity for brainstorming research ideas for a hybrid conference we are planning for the Spring of 2024 at the University of Pennsylvania and potential publications following the event.

TITLE: “Critical Infrastructure under Russian Invasion and Beyond”

Including but not limited to topics such as: 

  • Natural Gas Infrastructure: Nord Stream Pipelines and Balticconnector Explosions
  • Electricity Infrastructure: Ukraine, Current Physical and Cyber-Attacks, EU and non-EU states

Anna Mikulska is an expert on European energy markets and energy policy. She is a senior fellow at the Kleinman Center and a fellow in energy studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

Senior Fellow, Kleinman Center and SAS
Benjamin Schmitt is a joint senior fellow at the Kleinman Center and the School of Arts and Sciences. He previously was a postdoctoral research fellow and project development scientist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
