Policy Design , Access & Equity

Today, Sanya Carley, co-director of the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, was named a Resources for the Future (RFF) university fellow—joining more than 30 RFF university fellows that hold positions at well-regarded institutions around the world.

The program is “designed to establish close working relationships between RFF and outstanding scholars in the academic community,” states today’s RFF announcement.

“I have long admired the work of RFF scholars and their impact on important policy and research challenges, and am particularly honored to have the opportunity to work more closely with them on such pursuits,” said Carley.

In addition to her leadership role at the Kleinman Center, Carley is also Presidential Distinguished Professor of Energy Policy and City Planning at the university’s Stuart Weitzman School of Design, with a secondary appointment in the Wharton School. Her work focuses on energy justice, the energy transition, energy insecurity, electricity and transportation markets, and public perceptions of energy infrastructure. Before coming to the University of Pennsylvania, she worked as a professor and Associate Vice Provost at Indiana University.

Carley joins an impressive group of incoming university fellows, including: Jennifer A. Hillman from Georgetown University; Julia Haggerty from Montana State University; Carlos Martín from Harvard University; Lala Ma from the University of Kentucky; and Hannah Druckenmiller (who previously served as an RFF fellow) from the California Institute of Technology.

“We’re lucky to have these distinguished academics join the team as university fellows,” said RFF President and CEO Richard G. Newell. “The whole university fellow network is an incredibly important way to share ideas and support research collaborations. By signing on, they’ve made the network all that much deeper.”
