Residential Battery Storage: Reshaping the Way We Do Electricity - Kleinman Center for Energy Policy
We have talked a lot about at home solar panels, and distributed energy resources for subdivisions, but the conversation around the market of batteries for individual homeowners seems to not have really take off yet. This might because battery storage technology as a consumer product is still perhaps too pricey to see wide adoption. As we saw with solar panels, as the price goes down and the subsidies go up, we may see a shift in the market for at-home battery storage, a fine alternative to selling solar power back to the grid. An expansion of battery storage in the way of solar panels would help take pressure off the grid, especially as energy demand continues to increase with the hotter and more extreme weather.
