Event Summary

The Kleinman Center and the Mack Institute for Innovation Management are thrilled to welcome Dr. Daniel L. Sanchez, postdoctoral research scientist with the Carnegie Institution for Science, to Penn to discuss the priorities for the next wave of energy innovation.

Energy technology innovation expands the portfolio of solutions for deep decarbonization of energy systems. In Paris, Mission Innovation and the Breakthrough Energy Coalition paved the way for an unprecedented increase in research and development budgets globally.

This talk focuses on technological and institutional priorities for energy innovation. Drawing from a range of methods, including expert elicitation, technology roadmapping, and case studies, Dr. Sanchez discusses how governments and the private sector can design effective programs and strategies to to enhance the rate of energy innovation. He focuses on two examples: Mission Innovation, and carbon dioxide removal technologies.
