On October 2, the Risk Center will host Gilbert M. Gaul, the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author of the new book: The Geography of Risk: Epic Storms, Rising Seas, and the Cost of America’s Coasts. The event will include a panel discussion with Research Assistant Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology, Philip Orton, and Professor Emeritus of Operations, Information, and Decisions, Howard Kunreuther, and Q&A with students moderated by Executive Director of the Risk Center, Carolyn Kousky

Gaul twice won the Pulitzer Prize and has been shortlisted for the Pulitzer four other times. For more than thirty-five years, he worked as an investigative journalist for The Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, and other newspapers. He has reported on non-profit organizations, the business of college sports, homeland security, the black market for prescription drugs, and problems in the Medicare program. He was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and a Ferris Fellow at Princeton University. The author of three previous books of investigative reporting, Gaul lives in New Jersey.
