Company Description

This opportunity is only available to Penn graduate students.

The Philadelphia Green Capital Corp (PGCC) is the non-profit “green bank” affiliate of the Philadelphia Energy Authority that aims to grow the clean energy economy in the Philadelphia region. PGCC offers low-cost financing options for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects and develops programs that remove systemic barriers to clean energy financing. Learn more about our products here.

The Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) is an independent municipal authority focused on energy affordability and sustainability issues in Philadelphia. In 2016, PEA launched the Philadelphia Energy Campaign, a $1 billion, 10-year investment in energy efficiency and clean energy projects to create 10,000 jobs, and to build a robust, equitable clean energy economy in Philadelphia. To date, PEA and PGCC together have supported over $380 million in projects and created over 3,275 jobs.

This Kleinman fellowship will enable a Penn graduate student to spend 10-12 weeks working on issues related to energy policy and programs at PGCC. Applicants should be highly motivated individuals with experience working on energy, finance, sustainability, government, and/or economic issues.

Most of the Fellow’s time will be spent supporting PGCC’s new programs, including the expansion of its low-income solar access program into southeast PA and early-stage partnership development with local lenders. The exact scope of work will be designed to complement the Kleinman Fellow’s existing skills and desired learning experiences.

  • Create a marketing strategy and support partnership development for expanding the low-income solar program.
  • Support pitch material development and participate in fundraising meetings to capitalize PGCC
  • Lead special projects that support the development of new program development, which could include creating research briefs on potential investment opportunities for PGCC, identifying key partnerships, and evaluating policy & market trends to inform strategic planning
