Topics in Sustainable Agriculture
From Forests to Farmlands
Highlighting the Kleinman Center’s research on sustainable agriculture, a panel of experts discusses the tradeoffs of land use for renewable energy. PennVet Dean Andrew Hoffman (center) moderated the panel, which featured Jonathan Thompson (left), senior ecologist and director in residence at the Harvard Forest, and Grace Wu (right), assistant professor in the environmental studies program at UC Santa Barbara. Thompson and Wu expanded this conversation in a later episode of “Energy Policy Now,” our podcast series. The Kleinman Center’s sustainable agriculture portfolio is supported by the Goldsmith Research Fund.

Considering Conservative Voices

Bob Inglis, a six-term U.S. Congressman from South Carolina, experienced a personal and political evolution on climate change, becoming a prominent advocate for bipartisan solutions to the climate crisis. At this year’s Energy Week, Inglis discussed today’s urgent need for conservative voices in the climate discussion. Joining him on stage were Michael Mann, vice provost for climate science, policy, and action at Penn, and Sanya Carley, faculty director of the Kleinman Center.
