THE POSITION:

SunPower's K-14 Education Program provides a range of solar science, career, STEM learning and teaching opportunities for their customer school districts.  The Intern will have an opportunity to work directly with teachers, students and partners to develop, delivery and ensure a  high quality experience.  Interns will be exposed to their education partnerships, work-based learning methodology, STEM curriculum, SunPower technology and support the management & delivery of their Summer Solar Energy Academy for high schools students .   Summary of essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support the planning and delivery of at least four Solar Energy Academy weeks in the Bay Area and potentially in other parts of CA.
  • Support day to day coordinator in the Academy, working with teachers, SunPower employees and high school students
  • Support curriculum updates & teaching to students
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students, depending upon the requirements of the specific position.
  • Must be within 1 year of graduation at time of participation in the program.
  • A current student, ideally enrolled in an academic program at one of SunPower’s partner schools. 
PREFEREED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Have a degree in education or environmental science
  • Teaching and managing a group of students
  • Have an interest in being an educator in the future
  • Strong verbal/written communication, organizational, & time management skills
  • Enjoys a wide range and disparate responsibilities
  • Operationally focused, highly motivated, self-starter who is committed to excellence
  • Outgoing, high energy personality and can connect easily with people of all ages & backgrounds
    Experience coordinating events and managing detailed projects
  • Experience writing curriculum or lesson plans for primary and secondary levels
  • Can explain the photovoltaic effect
  • Fluency in sustainable managment practices for events
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
