Energy & Climate Change Intern
DVRPC's Office of Energy and Climate Change Initiatives leads, supports, and coordinates efforts to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the Greater Philadelphia region. The Office of Energy and Climate Change Initiatives is seeking one work-study eligible intern for several projects during the fall of 2017, with possible extension into the spring 2017 academic semester and beyond.
The intern will primarily support three DVRPC projects: (1) preparing the 2015 regional energy use and greenhouse gas emissions inventory and related products; (2) understanding the current and future location of electric vehicle owners, the demand for charging infrastructure, and the policy and electrical grid implications of vehicles and charging infrastructure; and (3) development of materials for and hosting of informational forums on adaptation to a changing climate. These activities will be carried out under the supervision and guidance of Office of Energy and Climate Change Initiative staff.
The intern may be assigned to assist with additional projects, depending on office needs and the interests of the intern.
For the above projects, the intern will be asked to collect, compile, and analyze information, including numeric data; assist in the development of written reports and web content; and help prepare for and host events with stakeholders from around the region. The intern will participate in project meetings and carry out tasks identified in those meetings.
Interest and background or training in energy and/or climate change issues.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Able to perform independent research and gather data from objective/reliable sources.
Strong quantitative skills
Ability to work independently and highly motivated
This position requires a commitment of 7.5 to 15 hours during the academic year.
Applicants with work-study funding are preferred.
Minimum Experience and Training
Completed at least THREE YEARS of a college/university program or enrolled in a master's program (preferred), or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
